Accessing More Sophisticated Hebrew

Prerequisite: Advanced Gimmel or placement test
This course is designed for those who have completed Kitah Gimmel or have begun studying in Kitah Dalet. The course emphasizes engaging in conversation and writing using high-level Hebrew. We will read poems written by Israel's top poets such, as Natan Zach and Rachel, as well as one of Etgar Keret's stories. In addition, we will read current newspaper articles, watch an Israeli movie, and hold group discussions and one-on-one dialogues.
Some of the topics that we will discuss include: Jewish laws in modern Israel; the connection between the culture and the language; the role of women in the security service; and the impact of humans on the environment. You will be exposed to new and high-level of vocabulary from the scientific and legal fields, and will be challenged to write short essays that will push you to increase your vocabulary and refine your grammar.
During the last week of the course, students will be required to take a test in order to qualify for the next level, Advanced Dalet and continue their Hebrew studies. They will be graded on their oral and written work and based on their in-class effort and on the test.
If you live overseas or simply feel comfortanble learning from home, you can join our online Dalet Course where the same level of Hebrew is taught just through Zoom. This course also runs over 10 weeks, and in no time you will have immersed yourself in the Hebrew language.
*In-person courses are held at our comfortable and inviting Tel Aviv ulpan wheares online courses are held through the Zoom app. BOTH COURSES include a workbook specially developed by Aviv Bertele and access to a vocabulary app tailored to your class level.
