Gimmel

Taking Your Hebrew to the Next Level

Prerequisite: Advanced Bet or placement test

This course is designed for people who have completed level Bet+ or Advanced Bet and focuses on reviewing and using the future tense. You will continue learning passive verbs that will increase your ability to speak fluently. Incorporating advanced syntax and prepositions, as well as enriching your grammar and verb bank will all help you build a broader vocabulary and speak more confidently.

To continue expanding your vocabulary and improve your grammar and comprehension, we will discuss contemporary issues in Israeli society, including rabbinical dispensation for the use of medical marijuana, the ethics of embryo science, and the employment of minors. Together we will explore Israeli books and newspapers, and Hebrew poetry, to improve your speaking, reading, and writing.

During the last week of the course, students will be required to take a test in order to qualify for the next level, Advanced Gimmel and continue their Hebrew studies. They will be graded on their oral and written work and based on their in-class effort and on the test.

If you live overseas or simply feel comfortanble learning from home, you can join our online Gimmel Course where the same level of Hebrew is taught just through Zoom. This course also runs over 10 weeks, and in no time you will have immersed yourself in the Hebrew language.

*In-person courses are held at our comfortable and inviting Tel Aviv ulpan wheares online courses are held through the Zoom app. BOTH COURSES include a workbook specially developed by Aviv Bertele and access to a vocabulary app tailored to your class level.
