Prerequisite: D1 at UAB The D2 Course is designed for UAB alumni who have completed D1 at UAB. The course focuses on engaging in conversation and writing using high-level Hebrew. We will read poems written by Israel's top poets such as Leah Goldberg and Natan Alterman, as well as one of Shay Agnon’s short novels. In addition, we will read current newspaper articles, watch an Israeli movie, and hold group discussions as well as one-on-one dialogues. Some of the topics that we will discuss include: dilemmas in modern Israeli society; the role of Judaism and religion in modern Israel; women's rights and the gap between men and women today; and the evolution of Hebrew language. You will be exposed to new and high-level of vocabulary from the scientific and legal fields, and will be challenged to write short essays that will push you to increase your vocabulary and refine your grammar. During the last week of the course, students will be required to take a final exam to test their knowledge. They will be graded on their oral and written work and based on their in-class effort and on the test. The course is held at our comfortable and inviting Tel Aviv ulpan and includes a workbook specially developed by Aviv Bertele and access to a vocabulary app tailored to your class level.
1. Students may cancel enrollment and receive a full refund (with a 400 NIS cancellation fee) up to 2 weeks before the course starts. 2. Cancellation between 2 weeks and 3 days before the course starts will be refunded in credit for the following semester only. 3. Cancellation for any reason within 72 hours before the course starts is not refundable or eligible for credit towards future courses. 4. 1-on-1 sessions are non-refundable once booked.
