Service Description
Prerequisite: G2 or placement test The D1 is designed for those who have completed Kitah Gimmel or have begun studying in Kitah Dalet. The course emphasizes engaging in conversation and writing using high-level Hebrew. We will read poems written by Israel's top poets such, as Natan Zach and Rachel, as well as one of Etgar Keret's stories. In addition, we will read current newspaper articles, watch an Israeli movie, and hold group discussions and one-on-one dialogues. Some of the topics that we will discuss include: Jewish laws in modern Israel; the connection between the culture and the language; the role of women in the security service; and the impact of humans on the environment. You will be exposed to new and high-level of vocabulary from the scientific and legal fields, and will be challenged to write short essays that will push you to increase your vocabulary and refine your grammar. During the last week of the course, students will be required to take a test in order to qualify for the next level, D2 and continue their Hebrew studies. They will be graded on their oral and written work and based on their in-class effort and on the test. The course is held at our comfortable and inviting Tel Aviv ulpan and includes a workbook specially developed by Aviv Bertele and access to a vocabulary app tailored to your class level.
